HIPAA has set a requirement that all patient data view archived in a "fail safe" manner. As so many laws are, this is rather vague and open to interpretation. We have seen this requirement handled a number of different ways at various facilities. The law intends to see that due diligence is done and all efforts are made to preserve and protect patient data.
If you have the resources, you may want to back the data up in a secure and redundant environment at your own facilities. If you cannot or do not want to take on those responsibilities, Radical Radiology has resources and solutions that can help. We offer the following types of off-site storage:
- Simple disaster recovery, which involves encrypting and sending your image data to our archive facility. Should your main data set be lost, we would return our copy to you in a very short timeframe. Simple and inexpensive.
- For facilities that require a more complex solution, use our system as a part of their deep archive solution. Studies could be queried and retrieved on an individual basis as needed. Give us a call and let's discuss what works for you.
